Sierra Club pranksters have posted on Craigโ€™s List an all-too-honest job description for anyone hoping to apply for the CEO job at Massey Energy to replace retiring CEO Don Blankenship.ย  Think youโ€™re qualified to fill the shoes of one of the worst polluters in America?ย

Here is the Craigโ€™s List job description:

Massey Energy seeks a new Chief Executive Officer to carry on its important work destroying the environment andย jeopardizingย the health and safety of its employees. This position will oversee all Massey Energy operations (but donโ€™t worry – stringent or really any oversight is not a corporateย priority).

ย

Keyย responsibilities:

-Ducking responsibility for grave accidents and enthusiastically (and with a straight face)ย shiftingย the blame to government agencies created to prevent suchย incidents.

Denyingย climate change, hating the environment and hating anyone who might enjoy theย environment.

Tradingย campaign cash for congressionalย favor.

Threateningย members of theย media.

-Personallyย persuadingย workers to abandon unionย organizing.

ย

Other qualities of a successfulย candidate:

-Inattention toย detail.

-A really, really, really shortย fuse.

Loveย of vacationing with judicial and political figures responsible for decisions/rulings regardingย Massey.

-Ability to whine in high stress work environments, despite mediaย criticism.

-General flagrant disregard for miner safety aย plus.

ย

Outside of the purview of theย position:

-Addressing safety violations (The Upper Big Branch mine has been cited for 1,342 safety violations since 2005 โ€“ย whatevs.)

-Reporting accidents (Massey Energy did not report more than 20 accidents at the explosive mine for two years before theย explosion.)

ย

Must be comfortable in office dress code,ย camouflage.

ย

Salary is $17.8 million, the highest in the coal industry, and can be expected to double from one calendar year to the next. Bonuses frequentlyawardedย for absolutely no reason atย all.

ย

This is a full time permanent position and will not be eliminated like other Massey Energy jobs as the company increases reliance on mountaintop removal coal mining, which in addition to destroying West Virginianโ€™s livelihoods and communities, has the added benefit of destroying mountains, valleys and waterways.
