Background

Kevin David Sorbo is an American actor best known for playing Hercules in a series of TV films and a TV series in the mid- to late 1990s.²

Sorbo has been described has been an actor, producer, director and inspirational speaker in the Christian Community.³ ⁴

Sorbo and his wife, Sam Sorbo, run Sorbo Family Film Studios.⁵. The company has produced a number of faith-based films – movies catering to Christian audiences – including What If, God’s Not Dead, Soul Surfer, and Let There Be Light.⁶ Fox News host Sean Hannity was an executive producer of Let There Be Light. ⁷

Sorbo has identified himself as a climate change skeptic, and was the narrator of Marc Morano’s 2020 film Climate Hustle 2: Rise of the Climate Monarchy, produced by the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT). ⁸

Kevin Sorbo also appears with Dr John Lennox in the 2020 film Against the Tide: Finding God in an Age of Science.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sorbo and his wife publicly supported resistance to public health mandates to help slow the spread of COVID, and Sorbo has posted vaccine disinformation to social media. ⁹

Sorbo was publicly criticized by his former Hercules co-star, Lucy Lawless, for asserting that “leftist agitators” caused the January 6, 2021 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. ¹⁰

Stance on Climate Change

Sorbo was interviewed by the The Christian Post to promote Climate Hustle 2:

Kevin Sorbo: [00:02:03] The reality is when they sit there and say the polar ice caps are melting, the polar ice caps are doing fine. Polar bears are doing fine. But it’s always, you know, we love to keep everybody in fear. Like look at what’s Covid’s doing right now. Fear’s an amazing weapon in the people’s lives, and they’re using fear to control our lives as well. [00:02:23][19.4]

Sorbo: [00:09:31] “Boy, you get me going on the Covid thing. I don’t like the fact that you quarantine healthy people. You don’t quarantine healthy people. I’m not dismissing the fact that this thing is contagious. Of course it’s contagious. So is the common flu and so is the common cold. We’ve had a vaccine for the flu for seventy eight years now. It still kills 40 to 50 thousand people a year in America alone, ok. Masks don’t do anything. Go to the CDC, the Center for Disease Control, go to the World Health Organization sites. They say it right in there. I don’t know why we have our faith in Fauci. I don’t know. This guy even said masks do nothing and then he changed his mind two months later. We needed to jump on board with everybody else, whatever kind of game they got going on.” [00:10:12]

Sorbo: [00:10:12] “I mean, the conspiracy here from stories that I read is Fauci is one of the guys behind this Covid, behind it. He’s the one that started experimenting on this thing in the labs and brought it over to China. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but I’ve read that a couple of places as well. And we all know that it came out of China. We all know that it’s manufactured. We all know that the death rate for it is roughly the same as a bad flu season. It’s out there. It even says that.” [00:10:39]

Sorbo: [00:10:39] “It’s the weirdest thing to sit there and say you have to practice six feet of separation from people because apparently this virus stops at five feet, 11 inches. Ok. and then if you can’t do that, please wear a mask. And then you find out that it can go through your eyes. I mean. People who are healthy, people who have physical [sic] healthy bodies are not going to die from this. From the facts, I read the statistics coming out, if you get it, you have a ninety nine point seven percent chance of surviving it, pretty much like the flu. In fact, I think the flu is probably even worse. Did you notice that the last season there was no deaths from flu? Everything was a Covid death. Everything. Look at the numbers. They say it’s going up. Of course it’s going up. If you open up something and everybody’s got a cold, then more people are going to get a cold.” [00:11:26]

Sorbo: [00:11:27] “How do you build up your immune system in the existence of mankind? And what is the percentage of, let’s say, let’s just take college students and younger from birth to twenty two years old? How many people died from Covid? How many? And if they did die, did they have preexisting conditions? Because everywhere I’m reading, the average age is over 80 years of age and everybody almost without fail had preexisting conditions, whether they had cancers, they were overweight, they were heavy smokers, whatever those things may be, there’s people that already had conditions.”[00:11:59]

Sorbo: [00:12:00] “We need to we need to protect the people that have the potential to die from this and not sit there and put a mask on a five year old child. I think that’s child abuse. How are these kids? What’s going through their mind when they look at the world now with a mask on their face? This is all about control. There’s a lot more going on here that they’re not letting us in on. I know they talk about a thing —the Great Reset or something, but they’re destroying millions, millions of people’s lives and businesses and suicide rates are up 30 percent. Why are we not talking about that? You know?” [00:12:29]

In a statement, Facebook announced that it had “removed Kevin Sorbo’s Page for repeatedly sharing debunked claims about the coronavirus or vaccines.” Sorbo subsequently went on Fox News which claimed he was being “silenced.”

[00:01:47] “I post things [on Facebook] that usually come from what other doctors are saying about the virus or I post things, what other people are saying about the voter fraud. And, you know, you get it. That doesn’t fit their narrative. They just get rid of you. I mean, freedom of speech, obviously, as we know, has gone out the window. Stance on January 6, 2021 Capitol Insurrection

The Los Angeles Times reported that Sorbo had retweeted a photo of individuals who attacked the U.S. Capitol with the text: “Do these look like Trump supporters? Or Leftist agitators disguised as Trump supporters…” The actor added his own thoughts: “They don’t look like patriots to me …”¹²

Sorbo also claimed on Twitter that “ANTIFA led the charge” into the Capitol Building disguised as pro-Trump demonstrators:

Kevin Sorbo was a guest speaker at a “Rally 4 Your Rights” event ¹³, held to promote opposition to pandemic-related medical mandates. A 24-hour fundraiser listed on the “Connecticut Residents Against Medical Mandates” website raised over $5,000 to bring him to the event.¹⁴

[00:08:09] There’s a weird tipping point we’re at right now between reality and just fake information. And unfortunately, people are falling into the trap of going for the stuff that’s more fake than real.

Kevin Sorbo was the narrator of Marc Morano’s 2020 film Climate Hustle 2: Rise of the Climate Monarchy, produced by the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT) that featured a number of well-known climate change deniers.¹⁶

“What’s great about this documentary is that it’s going to give a lot of bullet points for people to have a little more ammunition to fight back against all the people who have been brainwashed to think the world’s coming to an end,” Sorbo said of the movie.¹⁷

“The reality is that there’s more polar bears [now] than there has been since we’ve been keeping count, and the polar ice caps are growing back just fine and they have been for over a decade,” Sorbo said. “I also like to tell the tree huggers out there, ‘Do you realize in North America, there are more trees now in North America than there were 100 years ago?’ But they love to play that card; they love to live in and wallow in that world of misery.”
