In addition to the recommendations in place regarding the prevention of the spread of Covid19, some simple and inexpensive measures could have been put in place and possibly saved human lives and the economic tragedies that have befallen the global population.

The Covid19 virus is a member of the common cold group of viruses. It has undergone genetic changes and become highly virulent and deadly to some, especially the aged and those with weakened immune systems.

We know from the medical and scientific literature that optimal nutrition is one of the main factors for a healthy well functioning immune system.  Both vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and vitamin D are essential to and effective in supporting and strengthening the immune system. 

Vitamin C also has antiviral activities against many viruses including the common cold and the influenza viruses.

Vitamin C at 1000-4000 mg per day will reduce the severity and shorten the duration of the common cold. Increasing the dose to 10,000 mg per day is required for more severe colds and in cases of mild to moderate influenza.

Much larger doses are required for those moderately to seriously ill with the  Covid19 virus, especially if the patient is deteriorating. Doses of 100,000 mg and more have been given to seriously ill patients with, for example, viral pneumonia. These doses must be given intravenously. These dosing schedules are no different to the use of antibiotics for bacterial infections. A throat infection can be treated with low dose oral antibiotics. A lung infection will require much higher doses and if serious pneumonia occurs, IV injections. 

There are physicians in most countries who have been giving these high doses of vitamin C for many decades.  Hundreds of thousands of patients have benefited from intravenous vitamin C. Vitamin C is  recognised as a valid treatment by specifically and highly trained doctors in the medical profession.

Another vitamin, vitamin D, has been proven to protect people against many viruses including the influenza viruses and the corona viruses. This protection extends to significantly reducing the risks of serious viral pneumonia and death.

There is a silver lining, however, in the numbers of people who are recovering from COVID-19 – more than 122,000 at this writing. Even great hope lies in a promising new treatment using a combination of old drugs:  Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) and a Z-Pak (azithromycin).

These well-known drugs have very favorable safety profiles. Several small studies have shown significant reduction in viral loads and symptom improvement when combining these medications in COVID-19 patients. Though these studies are small and do not prove efficacy, the results were so promising that the authors of the most famous study concluded: “We, therefore recommend that COVID-19 patients be treated with hydoxycholoroquine and azithromycin to cure their infection and to limit the transmission of the virus to other people in order to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the world.

Worse, the letter indicates healthcare providers are “required to report” their fellow physicians who are prescribing these medications. This draconian measure carries ominous Gestapo-like overtones of neighbor reporting neighbor to “authorities.” During a time of crisis, in which physicians continue to see patients despite not having enough protective gear, this threatening, authoritarian stance from a governor is counter-productive at best. What makes this directive more of a head-scratcher is that the same day the state issued its threatening nastygram to Michigan’s health care providers, Whitmer’s counterpart in New York started clinical trials of the very same drugs.

Hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine were approved by the FDA more than 50 years ago and are widely available. Dr. Agus told us that if a patient has tested positive for COVID-19, he would advise them to talk to their doctor today about its potential role: “This drug is hope personified to every person with disease, especially the people who are higher risk or elderly.”

“Take Sambucol-Coronovirus Self-Assistance – Part 1,” Principia Scientific International, March 21

As a good starting point, I would suggest Sambucol.  This alternative health food product has been around for decades and is available in extract, liquid, tab and pill forms and has been used as an old folk remedy in Europe and Africa going back centuries.  It is an extract of Elderberry and its quite drinkable.

Many studies have been conducted on it and found it to be beneficial against many different types of flu viruses, none have been conducted on Coronavirus of course, but seeing as Coronavirus is a flu type virus, it seems perfectly reasonable that a cheap, easily available product which assists against one type may also be of benefit against another type.  It can’t hurt and it tastes great too, so why not?“

Dr Ron Paul suggests the coronavirus as a government-promoted hoax. His warning warrants wide consideration, not only because of Paul’s political insight, but also because he is qualified to speak on this as a medical doctor. He writes as follows:

Governments love crises because when the people are fearful they are more willing to give up freedoms for promises that the government will take care of them.
