Background
Arthur Rรถrsch was a genetics professor at Leiden University in the Netherlands from 1967 to 1997.
Rรถrsch is on Senator James Inhofe’s list of โProminent Scientistsโ who deny the existence of man made climate change. He is one of 49 on the list who are retired.
Stance on Climate Change
โDoubts about the mainstream ‘CO2-paradigm’ arise because there is so little evidence from direct observations to support the framework that has been constructed from computer model studies/experiments. This alone should be a sufficient reason for the scientific world to consider alternative paradigms.โ2Arthur Rรถrsch. โGuest Editorialโ (PDF), Energy & Environment, Vol. 21, No. 4 (2010).
Key Quotes
โThe observed coincidence between global warming and rise of CO2 in the atmosphere over the last century – more accurately measured over the last 30 years of it – need not indicate a causal relationship, and it certainly need not give rise to global catastrophe.โ3Arthur Rรถrsch. โGuest Editorialโ (PDF), Energy & Environment, Vol. 21, No. 4 (2010).
Key Deeds
November 12, 2010
Featured in Bjรธrn Lomborg documentary film, Cool It.
According to a review of the film by the Union of Concerned Scientists, โLomborg cherry-picks data to present skewed view of how we should combat global warming.โ 4โNew Documentary on Bjรธrn Lomborg and Climate Change is Long on Opinion and Short on Facts, UCS Says,โ Union of Concerned Scientists, November 19, 2010.
March 4, 2008
Listed as a โQualified Endorserโ of the Manhattan Declaration on Climate Change which was released at the Heartland Institute’s 2008 International Conference on Climate Change.5โQUALIFIED ENDORSERS NOT AT CONFERENCE,โ International Climate Science Coalition. Accessed February, 2012.
The Declaration demands โThat all taxes, regulations, and other interventions intended to reduce emissions of CO2 be abandoned forthwith.โ
December 13, 2007
Singnatory to an open letter to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon that claims โIt is not possible to stop climate change, a natural phenomenon that has affected humanity through the ages.โ6โOpen Letter to the Secretary-General of the United Nations,โ December 13, 2007. Reprinted by the Science and Public Policy Institute.
April 2006
Signatory to an open letter to Stephen Harper urging inaction on climate change policy.

Publications
According to a search of 22,000 academic journals, Rรถrsch has published 20+ original research papers in peer-reviewed all in the area of genetics. His most recent research was published over eight years ago, prior to which he published in 1977.
Many of Rรถrsche’s papers on climate change (here, here, and here, for example) were published in the skeptical journal Energy and Environment, edited by Sonja Boehmer-Christiansen, and described as one of the journals that skeptics can go to when they are unable to publish their work elsewhere.
