Jack R. Anderson (1925-2015) was the president of hospital management company Hospital Affiliates, Inc. from 1970 until the firm was acquired by insurance company INA Corporation in 1981. He went on to become chairman of the INA Health Care Group. ¹

Anderson was a chairman of several other health care companies, including Horizon Health Corporation, Republic Health Corporation, United Dental Care, Inc., TakeCare, Inc., and FHP International Corporation. He was also director of Quality Inns, Inc., Navistar International Corporation, and Medical Care International, Inc. among other companies.²

Anderson was a member of the board of overseers of the Hoover Institution at Stanford University. Before moving into health care, Anderson worked in financial positions at Merrill Lynch Pierce Fenner and Smith, Inc., AT&T, Time Inc., W.R. Grace & Company, Inc., McCall Corporation, and Reliance Group, Inc.³

Jack R. Anderson and his wife, Rose-Marie Anderson, were behind the Rose-Marie and Jack R. Anderson Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that has given significant funds to conservative groups promoting private schools and public education voucher programs.⁴

According to a 2003 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Anderson became president of Calver Fund, a healthcare investment and consulting firm, in 1988, and served on the board of directors of several other public and private health care companies. According to the SEC, Anderson stepped down as a director of Safeguard Health Enterprises, Inc. on March 11, 2003, and his son Neil R. Anderson took his place as a director March 13, 2003.⁵

Jack and Rose-Marie Anderson had three children: Gail Canizares, Neil Anderson, and Barbara McDonald.⁶
