A former nuclear power engineer, Bateman is also a funder of the UK climate science denial group the Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF). Bryan Bateman has represented the Confederation of Paper Industries at meetings of the Emissions Trading Group, of which it is a member. The body was established in 1999 to represent business interests in the policy debate around greenhouse gas emissions trading.
