Neil Hamilton is the leader of the UK Independence Party and an Assembly Member for Mid and West Wales. In 1997, Hamilton lost his seat to BBC war correspondent Martin Bell, who was standing as an independent candidate. In 2018, Hamilton was widely criticised for his defence of Enoch Powell, a former Conservative MP infamous for his 1968 anti-immigration “Rivers of Blood” speech.
