The DeSmog UK inaugural series begins with the shrewd Lord Lawson speaking alongside the grandfather of American climate denial S Fred Singer at an event held by the oil and tobacco funded Institute of Economic Affairs. In this rip-roaring yarn we are introduced into the strange world of corporate anti-science. Lawson and his charity the Global Warming Policy Foundation say its it’s not funded by an energy company nor anyone with a โsignificantโ interest in energy. So why has Lawson come out of retirement to fight on the issue of global warming? For the public good? How does this sit with his life’s work – introducing neoliberalism, an economics based on the idea that people are only incentivised by money?
