Bobby "Not-in-My-Back-Yard" Kennedy; or Clay Feet on Cape Cod

Woefully, it appears that Bobby Kennedy Jr., so fulsomely quoted a few posts on, has clay feet when it comes to his environmental convictions. That is, he’s all for saving the world, as long as it doesn’t interfere with his favourite sailingย grounds.

In the attached letter to the editor, which the New York Times ran on Dec. 16, 2005, Kennedy complains that a proposed wind farm in Nantucket Sound will blight his view and create a host of other problems that no other environmental organization seems to have nopticed. Now he and Uncle Teddy are lining up with some Republican despoilers to try to block the windย farm.

This is hugely disappointing. Whenย people who have proven that they understand environmental risk still put self-interest ahead of the common good, it bodes ill for a warmerย future.
