Obama Mania Enlivens the COP Corps

Itโ€™s 9:18 p.m. Friday night and thereโ€™s nothing happening COP15.

The rumours – which have been resolutely negative – have ground to a halt. But when U.S. President Barack Obama is seen moving, reporters run, cameras click and an excited optimism sweeps over theย place.

One such reported sighting resulted in a stampede into the press conference room, an event followed shortly after by an announcement from a UNFCCC media official assuring us that there would be NO press conference any timeย soon.

Twenty minutes later, Obama walked by again, and the press corps returned to the room in force. Still no president. Now, between two and three hundred reporters, photographers and camera operators are loitering about, hoping that someone, anyone – but most especially President Barack Obama – might sweep in, grab a microphone and give us anย update.

Keep you posted.
