Weโre pleased to announce that DeSmog UK has appointed Kyla Mandel as Deputyย Editor.
With in-depth reporting experience on topics including sustainable timber and fracking, Kyla will bring an analytical eye to all her work as Deputyย Editor.
Living in London for the past two years, Kyla has worked for titles such as Green Futures Magazine, EnergyDesk and most recently The ENDS Report. Her work has also appeared on Forbes Online and The Guardianโs Sustainable Business channel.
Past research has involved extensive content analysis examining British media coverage on shale gas exploration and investigating events involving police brutality on the McGill University campus in Montreal during the 2012 province-wide student tuitionย protests.
Originally from Montreal, Canada, Kyla moved to the UK to pursue a masterโs in journalism at the London College of Communication.ย Bilingual in French and English, she has also lived in the US and Germany. So, combined with a BA joint-honours degree in history, political science and environmental studies from McGill, she has a strong grasp on the dynamics between environmental issues and internationalย politics.
Following DeSmog UKโs launch in September, Kyla will help build up its online presence in the UK as well as produce original and timely coverage with the aim of stimulating informed public discourse and political climate changeย action.
