Over the past few weeks I’ve coincidentally encountered no less than four projects to make software and IT companiesย greener:
- Via Jeremy Zawodny, I read about Yahoo’s new initiative to become carbon-neutral. Whether Microsoft buys them or not , that’s big news from a bigย company.
- Via Social Signal, Dreamhost is going carbon-neutral as well , by buying enough renewable energy credits to account for their energyย usage.
- At BarCamp Ireland, I was chatting with Tom Raftery about his plan to make a data centre in Cork totally carbon neutral.
- Finally, Apple seems to be protesting a bit too much in response to Greenpeace’s Green My Apple program. Still, they do claim to be ahead of their competitors and seem to have the facts to back those claims up. Whew, I thought my stature as a smug, superior Mac user was in danger.
